Makefile.in not generating Makefile

Hey all,

I am trying to setup my development environment for strace. I
am following the instructions in the NewContributors page. After
executing ./configure, there is no Makefile being created by the
Makefile.in . There are no targets for make to build.

I am building my development environment on my native Ubuntu 16.04
machine built on a x86_64 architecture.

uname -a output:
Linux bharath12345-Inspiron-5559 5.0.0-rc5-LinuxAssignment-dirty #2 SMP
Thu Feb 7 19:33:55 IST 2019 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
