upcoming release: what needs to be done

tested and seemed to be ok (compile + make check):
	alpha
	arm (oabi)
	hppa
	ia64
	ppc32
	ppc64
	s390
	s390x
	x86_64

i also compile tested bfin, but didn't get around to testing it.

my sh/sparc boxes are offline atm ... need to get someone to kick them.

but at any rate, should be good to go.
