New to Strace

Hi ,
     Can any one let me know what are the major "STRACE" usage areas?
     I use for debugging my company web apps."strace -o xxx -p 1234 -s 500 "
     Please help me know the system level calls (read,write,fstat)
     Please help me grow on the same.
